Abstract

Elementary education institutions focus not only on cognitive aspects but also on stimulating students' character and creative potential. However, the lack of structured performing arts mentoring methods often hinders the conversion of students' non-academic potential into competitive achievements. This community service program aimed to train elementary students at SD Negeri 1 Jogopaten in English storytelling of Indonesian folklore to foster a competitive mindset and self-confidence for the Cultural Performance at the 2025 Buluspesantren District Jambore. The program implementation method comprised three main stages: participant selection and problem identification; setting specific goals through script comprehension and pronunciation training; and conducting six sessions of intensive practice utilizing drilling methods and stage simulations. The results demonstrated positive multidimensional impacts on the partner. Through intensive mentoring, students significantly improved their linguistic proficiency, gestures, and self-efficacy, enabling them to perform expressively and without scripts before an audience. This success was quantitatively proven by achieving a score of 88 (Good category) in the storytelling competition, positioning SD Negeri 1 Jogopaten 4th out of 34 elementary-level scout troops across the district. This program underscores the importance of collaboration between academicians and schools in optimizing early childhood foreign language literacy.
